Infos

Dear parents,

Here are the most important points from the last Parents' Council meeting:

1) School Psychological Service (SPD)

At the beginning of the meeting, the School Psychological Service (SPD) visited and presented its work. The SPD offers free counseling for children, parents and teachers in the event of school and personal challenges.

  • Typical topics are

  • Learning problems

  • Difficulties in social interaction (e.g. bullying, conflicts between children or with teachers)

  • Emotional stress and behavioral problems

  • Questions about the school situation

  • Need for school-indicated psychotherapy

  • Clarification of a possible need for special education

The SPD can also be consulted in the event of disagreement between parents and the school.

The Limmattal branch is responsible for our school.

2) Leisure activities in the Bullingerhaus

The Bullingerhaus of the evangel. Kirchgemeinde (near the city parliament) offers free activities for children and families from the neighborhood:

Homework help (in a supportive atmosphere - older young people help younger ones with tasks and give tips on everyday school life)

  • Parent-child singing & handicrafts

  • Vacation activities

  • School garden

The Bullingerhaus is in cooperation with the Familientreff Hard, the OJA, the Johanniskirche, the ZHDK

Published in the children's cultural calendar, also open to after-school children.

3) New Hardplatz school building School route & library relocation:

The renovated Hardplatz school building is now part of the Sihlfeld school building and is used for the library, music lessons, middle school after-school care and open classrooms.

Many parents express great concern about the route to school there - particularly because of the confusing streetcar tracks and the dark, dirty underpass.

The planned relocation of the school library there is clearly rejected by many parents, as it will make access more difficult for children, e.g. during the break, and usage is likely to decrease significantly.

The Parents' Council is therefore requesting a revision of this decision

How the route to school will be organized for younger children in the future is still open and will continue to be examined.

4) Bullingerplatz traffic situation

The traffic situation on Bullingerplatz and in front of the city parliament is very challenging and difficult for kindergarten children to assess and negotiate.

The question arises as to possible solutions or interventions to make the journey to school safer and easier for the children.

5) Holiday after-school care & Q-days

The kindergarten asked questions about after-school care planning:

Can info about excursions be communicated earlier?

Are there alternatives for children who do not want to take part in excursions?

Feedback will follow at the next meeting.

Best regards

Your Parents' Council

Here are the most important points from the last parent council meeting:

KanzBi Library

Our guest at our meeting on March 12, 2025 was Manuela Anele, who introduced us to the KanzBi library:

The KanzBi is located in the law firm’s school building, Kanzleistrasse 56.

It was founded by dedicated teachers from District 4.

The library offers books in 40 different languages, a toy library with games to borrow, and a computer room with 9 computers.

Supervision is provided by volunteers, with a high school student providing support on Wednesdays.

Opening hours: 2 hours per day.

Website: www.kanzbi.ch

Membership is free, donations are welcome.

Website

Feel free to check out the Parents' Council's new website – there you'll also find the Leisure Tips section with great ideas for family activities in the neighborhood! All new articles are available in five languages: French, Spanish, English, Turkish, and Arabic.

Traffic

The city of Zurich is planning to extend the green phase on Hardstrasse.

Safety at Hardplatz remains an issue, but solutions are difficult due to service traffic (garbage, emergencies).

Visiting Day & Parents' Café

Thank you so much for your participation in the last visit day and parents' café! We are very grateful for the many cakes you brought.

Best regards
